Beginning in 1966 with a graduating class of 47 and single education building, Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) has grown to a rambling campus with yearly enrollment of classes of over 12,000.  With an exciting NCAA Division 1 Sports program, the University is a large draw to the surrounding northern Indiana area.  Located approximately three miles from the Residence Inn Fort Wayne, it is also easily accessible.

IPFW now offers over 190 undergraduate and graduate programs and students are able to work towards a master’s degree and graduate level certification.  This University is the major draw for the area’s top graduating seniors.  Until recently, all students had to drive to class.  Now, they can walk from the IPFW Student Housing over the Willis Family Bridge.  The campus is constantly growing and improving, with construction recently completed on the John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center and new construction beginning on a health sciences building, a six-story hotel and an expansion for a student-services complex.

The University is expanding its knowledge footprint as well.  Because IPFW is the synthesis of two university systems, the student achievement standard is set to the higher of the two standards of Purdue University or Indiana University.  Additionally, the IPFW staff is constantly encouraged to pursue greater knowledge in their fields, receiving more than $5 million in grants and contracts in the past year alone.
